yfood® reaches customers online and offline
The Munich-based start-up company yfood Labs GmbH is one of the fastest-growing food tech start-ups in Europe. Known from the TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen,” the company offers food products in the form of drinks, bars and powder as healthy ready meals. After yfood® tripled its sales in 2020, sales more than doubled last year. Over 500,000 customers currently order yfood® products via the internet. yfood® pursues a successful multichannel sales model: the ready-to-drink meals can also be purchased in more than 20,000 branches of major supermarket chains. Both sales channels contribute equally to sales and continue to grow. Only a few consumer brands succeed in doing this.
Setting the course for the future
From the outset, yfood® relied on IT support to handle its processes. Initially, orders could be processed reliably via Shopify alone. Later, Xentral was added as the first ERP system. However, expansion and corporate growth bring new requirements and tasks. For this reason, yfood® started a new software selection process in the summer of 2020, initially to introduce a system for financial accounting. Later, the merchandise management and logistics processes were to follow. For online sales, the connection of various online shops and logistics service providers (3PL) was another important requirement for the future system.
Desire for standard software with flexibility
yfood® attached importance to the new ERP system covering the main requirements as standard. Customizations were to be largely avoided. The choice fell on Oracle NetSuite, a flexible, growing solution that provides the ERP functionalities in the cloud. In addition to mapping yfood®'s core business processes, NetSuite with the existing Celigo interface offers the possibility of quickly and easily integrating over 20 e-commerce applications. This enables data exchange with external logistics service providers and facilitates product sales via all common online shops.

were introduced at yfood® in the first step.
With the help of the Celigo Integrator IO, yfood® now handles its e-commerce activities via Shopify and Amazon and has a stable connection to external service providers for fulfillment and logistics.
On course for expansion
Today, the company sells its products online and in retail in over 30 European countries. Further markets, including the USA, are to follow. In order to support the processes and procedures abroad as well, international NetSuite rollouts are being planned.
In addition, there is the connection of further 3PL service providers and the expansion by additional NetSuite functionalities. For example, the introduction of “Cash360” is intended to facilitate cash flow forecasts in the future and enable a real-time view of the cash flow. An expansion by various operative planning functionalities, such as material requirements planning and demand planning, is also already in the starting blocks.
A rapidly growing business model like yfood®'s requires a high degree of flexibility – even during the ERP implementation phase. The challenges in the course of the project were successfully mastered not least through the use of an agile framework for the planning, administration and execution of the project. With the scalable and flexible NetSuite ERP cloud solution, yfood® has opted for a professional software solution in order to continuously improve processes in the future.
